Syntiant Partners with Gaming Company to Bring More Voice Features to Monitors and Smart Devices

A startup that moves AI from the cloud to “edge devices” has partnered with a gaming brand to to develop what’s known as “edge AI computing.”
Syntiant, with HQ in Irvine, is joining fores with MSI.
Syntiant make AI-powered chips for “always on” applications in battery- powered devices, ranging from hearing aids to smart speakers and mobile phones.
MSI, with HQ in Taiwan, makes games, including esports.
The partnership will enable MSI to expand its “voice in game” feature through Amazon Alexa, by using Syntiant’s “neural decision processors,” along with Intel’s tech.
This provides the game players with access to voice command features regardless of cloud connectivity.
Syntiant’s technology will enable MSI users to perform a variety of voice functions and commands, including task execution on a notebook or personal computer and gameplay assists. It also will provide the ability to control a smart home device.
Syntiant is backed by strategic investors, including Intel Capital, Microsoft M12, Bosch Ventures and the Amazon Alexa Fund.
