It is a rare instance when a company paints a picture of the future and inspires you to see a whole new realm of possibilities. Nano technologies will redefine how we interact with everyday objects like phones, clothes, computers, and the list goes on. While to some this may seem farfetched but, i promise you that it is not as far off as one would think
Currently social network sites lack the ability to see how you connect to your contacts in 3D and the 2D models that exist do not display your connections in an intuitive manner. The ability to filter your contacts to see information such as locations, common interest, companies, groups, schools, colleges and the list goes on.What if Friends could give you access to their networks so you can see commonalities your networks share.
What if you had the ability to see how information travels across your network. For example, let us say you post a video and over the weekend, you get 2000 views, and you could see a 3D map detailing how the information was dispersed across the network.
For businesses, the ability to track and visualize the dissemination of data is priceless. The comprehension of which users in the network are responsible for the greatest dispersion of data is a very powerful tool.
Technologies such as the one shown blow are just starting to give way to a whole new way of seeing how you are connected to people and how information travels.
Coaxing computers to perform basic acts of perception and robotics, let alone high-level thought, has been difficult. No existing computer can recognize pictures, understand language, or navigate through a cluttered room with anywhere near the facility of a child. Hawkins and his colleagues have developed a model of how the neocortex performs these and other tasks. The theory, call Hierarchical Temporal Memory, explains how the hierarchical structure of the neocortex builds a model of its world and uses this model for inference and prediction. To turn this theory into a useful technology, Hawkins has created a company called Numenta. In this talk, Hawkins will describe the theory, its biological basis, and a software platform created by Numenta that allows anyone to apply this theory to a variety of problems. Part of this theory was described in Hawkins’ 2004 book, “On Intelligence”.
